Publix Majestic Beauty
Florida is a great place to live and a popular place to vacation. But this human population comes at a price for wildlife—there are 67 endangered or threatened species in the state. To bring attention to the plight of these animals, we created a calendar for Lakeland, Florida based Publix—the largest and fastest-growing employee-owned supermarket chain in the United States with $25 billion in revenue.
The unique calendar features images of Florida’s threatened wildlife. They were painted with bright colors and playful lines by South Florida artist Alex Yanes. In addition to the images, monthly fun facts served as inspiration to help protect the environment, allowing these animals to rebound and thrive.
The calendars were distributed in Publix’s 1,086 stores throughout Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama.
School curriculum and a lesson plan were created and made available to teachers who used the calendar’s images as a springboard for their social studies and science lessons.
